Frozen Banana Bites will get you through the dog days of summer and give you something delicious to sink your teeth into. When you've eaten all the popsicles in your freezer and exhausted your energy running after the ice cream truck, these homemade treats are sure to hit the spot. Frozen bananas are pretty delicious all on their own, but add some chocolate and you've hit the frozen desserts jackpot. If you love banana desserts, this is one of the easiest you'll ever make. If you want to make these frozen bites even more decadent, try adding a spoonful of peanut butter to the chocolate coat!

Serves4 frozen bananas

Chilling Time1 hr

Ingredients

  • 4 medium bananas, peeled and sliced into bite size rings
  • 1 cup dark chocolate chips
  • Optional toppings ideas: mini chocolate chips, shredded coconut, nuts, sprinkles, etc.)

Instructions

  1. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper, set aside.

  2. In a large bowl, melt chocolate chips in the microwave by cooking for 1 minute, stirring every 15 seconds.

  3. Using a fork, dip banana slices in the chocolate, allowing excess to drip off.

  4. Dip slices in toppings of your choice and place on parchment paper.

  5. When all slices are finished, place tray in the freezer for about an hour.

  6. Serve immediately.

What a super little summertime snack! Or actually for any time of the year, since I love both bananas and chocolate. The idea of adding some peanut butter to the mix is great, and one I will definitely try when I make these. We'll have the grandchildren here over the holidays, and I know they'll really enjoy helping to make and eating these.

these would make for a great dessert at a little summer party ! love it

Frozen Banana Bites. I gotta say, Summer snacking is really going to be great this year. What could be more refreshing than a frozen banana bite covered in chocolate and dipped in coconut, sprinkles or nuts, oh my. These are so easy to whip up on a hot Summer day when you need a refreshing snack by the pool.
