Can I use the legs in place of the breast as they are much cheaper when living on a limited budget.

I recall Country Clubs from my childhood although they, largely, seem to have disappeared in South Africa. This recipe, however, is a whole lot more delicious than anything I every remember having at any country club! We did not have any mushroom soup so used a few more mushrooms and some chicken stock. I also did not use pasta. Instead we had ours with a gorgeous fresh green salad and it was a really good, sumptuous meal.

This Country Club Chicken Dinner is such a delicious recipe. The combination of flavors, mushrooms, bacon, wine, cheddar cheese and apples is marvelous. I have made this recipe using boneless chicken thighs, and believe it or not boneless pork chops, and it worked great. It was the apple that inspired me to try it with pork chops, I love the combination of pork and apples.

I have made this recipe and it is truly decadent. I do not usually use canned soup when I cook and this was the first time I had tried it. It converted me as it took the meal to another level and it is no effort at all. I will definitely be making this again!

I was very surprised to see apples included in this savory dish, but they seem to work quite well - the sweetness that they bring is a nice contrast to the saltiness of the bacon, cream soup, and cheese in the sauce. I like how the little brown bits, or fond, from the bacon is incorporated into the sauce - it gives it such a great rich flavor!

We wondered about the flavor of chicken, bacon and apple but made the dish anyway and it was surprisingly delicious! I don't like the taste of tinned soup as a sauce so we added a bit extra white wine and water. We had ours with brown and wild rice and it was very good indeed!

This does look like a yummy chicken recipe."Country Club" reminds me of lazy weekend relaxation. This dinner looks so creamy and yummy. I will keep it and make it when I have guests. I hate spending too much time in the kitchen when guests are over as you miss out on socializing so this is perfect for that. I see some arugula in the picture and I love arugula. It has a nice peppery taste which I think goes great with chicken and I will be including that too in my recipe!
