What if my family hates ______ ingredient in this dump cake?

We know what it's like to have picky eaters in the house (or to be one yourself!). Sometimes a recipe looks amazing, but you know that one of the ingredients is going to be a "no go" for someone. Luckily, with dump cake recipes this is a super easy fix.

Feel free to omit the cherries or caramel sauce in this recipe and add a few other ingredients instead. Crazy for coconut? Add 3/4 cup to the batter and sprinkle a little on top to finish. Chopped pecans or walnuts would also be a great topping for this dessert if you are in the mood for a little crunch.

One of the best things about dump cake recipes is that you can adapt them in many ways to suit your taste, and they're still totally delicious.

We don't recommend adding ingredients that are very wet, or subtracting wet ingredients (like the crushed pineapple) frome this pineapple dump cake recipe. If you adjust the liquid too much, then the cake may not bake up properly. Don't skip the butter, sugar, or cake mix ingredients either!
