These are a really quick and easy side that will please almost everyone. We all loved it! I did make my own cheese soup for the top, and I also cut my own potatoes instead of using frozen, but other than that, I followed the recipe. It is very simple, but really doesn't taste simple. We had this with barbecued pork chops. It went perfectly with it!

We do a reasonable amount of grilling during the summer and this is definitely something we're going to try. I think at least one packet will be made with some Cajun seasoning since I'm a great fan of the Cajun fries from Five Guys Burgers and I think that would be a great addition to this version of cheese fries.

Because we follow a low carb diet we replaced the potatoes with sweet potatoes plus I used fresh garlic instead of powdered. It was very tasty, the potatoes were beautifully flavored by seasonings and the cheese soup and we will definitely make them again. Next time I might open the foil near the end, sprinkle some parmesan over the potatoes and grill for a few minutes.

Sweet potatoes make great fries as well. To make sweet potato fries, simply cut the sweet potato in rectangles like regular potato fries. If sweet potatoes are being used in this recipe, they might need to be parboiled a bit though because I find that they take longer to cook than ordinary potatoes.

These pouch potatoes look so awesome. I would never have thought to add cheese soup to cook 'fries'. This is an awesome idea. It's fun for the kids too to cook their fries in a pouch like this. I can see this being a big hit at a barbecue.

Simple.

yum

Can't wait to try these and I want to thank you for the sodium mgs! I am on a low sodium diet and this really helps me and others out on what recipes we can eat. Thanks again.
