I have to admit that I love recipes and I like to add my own touches. This soup interested me but seemed to lack the ingredients that would add a lot of flavor. I used two 32 oz boxes of Chicken stock. I cooked the potatoes, onions and added of a head of a small cabbage, 4 stalks of celery diced and cooked until the potatoes were done. when they were done I removed half of the potatoes to add back later for texture. I did puree the rest of the potatoes and then added some scrambled sweet Italian sausage, the cream cheese, shredded jack cheese (about a cup) and carrots (4 large, peeled and cut lengthwise. I did garnish with crumbled bacon bits and a dollop of sour cream. The flavors of these ingredients added some wonderful texture and color and my husband loved it.

Whoops, should have said 1/4 of a small head of cabbage finely shredded.

And I did this on the stovetop, not the slow cooker... It was delicious and my husband said it was the best soup he had ever eaten..

I WOULD LIKE A POTATO RECIIPE THAT CAN BE COOKED IN A SLOW COOKER THAT IS NOT CREAMY SOUP. wjoh1930@aol.com

I have tried several times to click on the recipe but it keeps going to another site. I would love to have this recipe.

I typically don't post comments, but wish comments were made after people tried the recipe. I thought it looked good too, BUT I really was disappointed and could barely stomach it. It seamed there was too much garlic, but followed the recipe. I realized that it really doesn't take long to make good potato soup once you have everything cut up, so it really seems silly to use a slow cooker. It seems like a good idea, but just was very bad. Sorry. I wish I would have been able to read a comment like this before I went to the trouble.
