Ingredients

  • 1 18-ounce box Betty Crocker Butter Pecan Cake Mix
  • 1 egg
  • 1 8-ounce carton Cool Whip, thawed and stirred
  • powdered sugar to coat

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350F degrees.
     
  2. Stir together cake mix, egg, and Cool Whip.
     
  3. Form into 1-inch balls.
     
  4. Drop balls into a bowl of powdered sugar and roll in sugar to coat.
     
  5. Place on a greased cookie sheet and bake at 350F for 8 to 12 minutes.

Actually, macaroons were originally made of ground almonds. Coconut came later. I think this sounds more like a donut hole (aka munchkin) than a macaroon.

why are these called macroons when there is no coconut in them? I thought that was what that meant. Thank you
