Cream Cheese Stuffed Cinnamon Roll Casserole

This recipe takes your average cinnamon roll casserole and adds a gooey cream cheese layer in the middle for one decadent breakfast that tastes like dessert! Cream Cheese Stuffed Cinnamon Roll Casserole is a shortcut recipe that uses packaged cinnamon rolls and pre-made frosting, so preparing it couldn't be easier. A thick layer of cinnamon roll dough is topped with a sweet cream cheese layer, then sprinkled with balls of the remaining dough and topped off with frosting and cinnamon. This breakfast casserole can even be made ahead of time for a sweet treat that will have you jumping out of bed and running to the kitchen.

Ingredients

  • 1 package Grands Cinnamon Rolls (5 count)
  • 1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, room temperature
  • 3/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • frosting from cinnamon rolls package (reserve!)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

  2. Spray cake pan with cooking spray. Gently press 3 of the cinnamon rolls into the bottom of cake pan. (They will not completely cover the bottom, but that is okay!)

  3. In a bowl, combine the cream cheese with powdered sugar and vanilla. Stir until well combined and fluffy.

  4. Spread over the cinnamon rolls.

  5. Cut remaining rolls into pieces and scatter over the top of the cream cheese mixture.

  6. Bake 20-25 minutes, until the top is golden brown.

What a yummy looking breakfast or midnight snack dish. I think it would be a great treat to make for my husband and I to share. This is definitely taking it up a notch for a fancier cinnamon roll. With the soft edges, cream cheese filling and the sweet cinnamon goodness this would be the meal to break out the good coffee and tea for. This is a pin-worthy recipe. Love that it is so easy too.

I've been wanting to try a cinnamon roll casserole lately! Cinnamon rolls are one of my favorite desserts, and I LOVE when they're just smothered in frosting. Can't wait to try!

This must be what they have for breakfast in Heaven. Seriously, warm cinnamon rolls stuffed with sweetened cream cheese, my heart skips a beat just thinking about it. I might have to take this to a new level and try it as a dessert with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. No cutting corners for me, I'm going straight to decadent.

Hmmmmm...this is an interesting recipe. I love the cream cheese idea though...and if you're not a big sweet eater like me, you can eliminate the powdered sugar to cut the sweetness from the rolls while baking. And maybe add some diced apples, raisins or even your favorite nuts to make it more hearty.

I love the simplicity of this recipe! My family loves cinnamon rolls for breakfast on Christmas morning and Easter morning. I have them on my grocery list for this weekend. I might go ahead and make them this way though because nothing beats cream cheese in any recipe! Who knew a few ingredients could make a really decadent breakfast item!

I buy cinnamon rolls all the time, but I never thought of ways to change them up. This would make a breakfast that's the best of both worlds-cinnamon rolls and cream cheese Danish. If I hadn't just made plain cinnamon rolls yesterday, I would have these soon. (I'll just wait two weeks!)

Yum! This is like an even easier version of cinnamon rolls! I can't wait to try it this weekend

Huh? Wow. This is a fun way to twist the idea of a cinnamon roll. I'll have to try this one morning when I'm looking to spice things up a bit.
