Classic Dinner Rolls

Fill up on these fantastic homemade dinner rolls at your next meal. Classic Dinner Rolls are a great appetizer option that the whole family will love.

Serves: 16

Ingredients
  • 18 ounces flour
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons yeast
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 4 ounces butter
  • 3 egg yolks
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
     
  2. Whisk together dry ingredients.
     
  3. Put in bowl of stand mixer with dough hook.
     
  4. Heat milk and butter to 115 degrees F to 125 degrees F.
     
  5. Dump the warm milk-butter mixture and the egg yolks into the flour and mix on medium low to combine.
     
  6. Increase speed to medium high and beat until the dough is smooth and shiny, about 8 minutes.
     
  7. Remove dough from bowl.
     
  8. Shape into a ball and return it to the bowl.
     
  9. Lightly grease the sides of the bowl and cover the top with plastic.
     
  10. Let rise in warm place until double in size, about 45 minutes.
     
  11. Light grease a 9x13 baking dish.
     
  12. Turn the dough onto a clean work surface. The dough is soft but not sticky and press to deflate.
     
  13. Using a pastry scraper, divide the dough into 16 equal pieces, about 2 ounces each.
     
  14. Form rolls, cover and let rise until about double, about 30 minutes. 
     
  15. Bake about 20 minutes until golden.
