I would call this a pudding treat it's not really a cake. I will make it with vanilla pudding and pecans. You can't go wrong with pudding and Cool Whip, can you? I bet it would be great with pistachio pudding, too. I am going to have to make this more than once!

I'd consider this more of a pie than a cake, but it's quite tasty no matter what name you call it. I like the idea that it's very flexible in regards to the type of nuts and the flavor of pudding used. Making this with chocolate pudding would lead me to using either almonds or peanuts in the crust, as well as sprinkling some chopped nuts on top along with the Cool Whip. It's a great, easy to make dessert.

Drizzlie chocolate sauce over the top of the Cool Whip just before serving. If you use a different 'flavor' of cake, then you can use topping sauce to complement. I like caramel topping too (would complement a spice cake).

I have been making this for 20+ years. It is really good and extremely easy to make. Also, can use all kinds of flavors of pudding, not just chocolate.

This is very easy to prepare and I do plan to try it out. I think it will be delicious.
