Absolute Apple Kuchen

This Absolute Apple Kuchen is absolutely the moistest, most delicious apple cake recipe that you'll taste all month! It's so easy to make that even squirrels can enjoy it, and it's a great way to celebrate the sweetness of September, or any other month.

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 box dry yellow cake mix
  • 1/2 cup coconut
  • 1 can sliced apples
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 egg yolks
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Cut butter into the cake mix as you would for a pie crust until the mixture is crumbly.
  3. Add the coconut and pat lightly into an ungreased 9 x 13 pan, forming edges about 1/2 " up the sides of the pan.
  4. Bake for 10 minutes.
  5. For the topping, spread the apples in the pan while the crust is still warm. Sprinkle cinnamon and sugar over the apples. Mix sour cream and egg yolks and drizzle over the apples and sugar. This will not completely cover the apple layer.
  6. Bake for 25 minutes, serve warm.
