Calzones are delicious Italian turnovers, usually made from pizza dough. Save your leftover dough and throw together some of these tasty treats!

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf frozen pizza dough, thawed
  • 8 ounces fat-free Mozzarella, shredded
  • 10 ounces spinach, frozen chopped, thawed and well-drained
  • 6 ounces tomato paste
  • 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 4 ounces canned mushroom stems and pieces, drained
  • 1 garlic clove, minced or pressed
  • 2 tablespoons red wine

Instructions

  1. Heat oven to 375 degrees F. Divide dough into 6 equal pieces. On baking sheets sprayed with non-stick cooking spray, pat each piece into a 7" circle.

  2. Combine remaining ingredients; mix lightly. Spoon approximately 1/2 cup of mixture onto half of each circle. Fold dough over filling; moisten edges and press together with fork to seal.

  3. Cut small slit in top of each calzone; lightly spray with cooking spray. Bake at 375 degrees F. for 15 to 18 minutes or until golden brown.
