Great Grans Greatest Goulash

Made with a classic tomato base, pasta, ground beef, a variety of tasty veggies and gooey Cheddar cheese, this recipe has everything you need to make everyone at the dinner table happy. Serve this recipe with a side of your favorite bread for dipping and maybe even a salad for some extra crunch on the plate. 

Ingredients

  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 2 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 jar chunky spaghetti sauce (approx. 26 ounces)
  • 1 (14.5 ounce) can diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 2 tablespoon concentrated tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 cup shredded carrot
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 3 cup water
  • 2 cup pasta, uncooked
  • 1 cup Cheddar cheese
  • salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.  Cook ground beef, onion, and garlic over medium-high heat until no pink remains. Drain any fat. Add shredded carrots.  

  2. Add pasta sauce, diced tomatoes, tomato paste, water, and seasonings. Simmer covered for 15 minutes.

  3. Add the pasta and continue to simmer, covered, stirring occasionally until pasta is tender (about 15-18 minutes). 

  4. Top with cheese and let sit about 5 minutes, until the cheese is melted.

  5. Serve immediately.
