Gooey Caramel Crack Bars

These chocolate crack bars with saltines will have everyone running to the kitchen.

Gooey Caramel Crack Bars

No-bake dessert bars are always perfect for when you need a quick yet delicious dessert. These Gooey Caramel Crack Bars are similar to scotcheroos in that they combine the flavors of chocolate and butterscotch, but are taken to the next level with the addition of caramel! They're called "crack" bars because they use saltine crackers to create a delicious crunch and fun texture. Try this easy dessert bars recipe today for a treat that the whole family is sure to love.

One of the things that we think sets this recipe apart from similar crack candy recipes is the addition of butterscotch flavor. The delicious mixture of chocolate and butterscotch makes this recipe totally crave-worthy, and the caramel is so gooey that you will want to grab an extra napkin. But we certainly don't mind, and we'll bet that your family won't, either.

Crack Bars Recipe

Instructions

  1. Line an ungreased 9X13-inch baking pan with foil. Make sure the foil is wide enough to leave an extension over the edge of the pan so that you can lift the candy out when it's done.

  2. Place a layer of saltine crackers on the bottom of the pan. If you need to break the crackers in order to get them to fit evenly, that is fine.

  3. In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the graham cracker crumbs, brown sugar, sugar, and milk. Bring the mixture to a boil and let it boil for 5 minutes. Stir frequently.

  4. Remove the butter mixture from the heat and let cool slightly.

  5. Spread half of butter mixture evenly over crackers. Top with another layer of crackers.

  6. Repeat layers.

  7. In a small saucepan, combine peanut butter, chocolate morsels, and butterscotch morsels. Melt over medium-low heat, stirring often. Spread the melted chocolate mixture evenly over the top of the crackers.

  8. Cover and chill for at least 1 hour. Then remove from the pan, serve, and enjoy!
