Lentil Cheese Savoury


  • 6 ounces lentils
  • 450 milliliters water
  • 2 onions thinly sliced
  • 2 tsps oil, margerine or butter
  • 5 ounces strong chedder grated
  • 4 wheatabix or crackers crumbled (I usually use saltines
  • 1 tsp dried mixed herbs (ie.italian seasoning, herb de province)
  • 3 tomatoes, roughly chopped
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste (or sauce)


Rinse lentils and cook till moist and soft, aprox. 29 minutes. Add more water if needed. Brown the onions in the fat. Mix all ingredients and tip into a greased shallow baking dish. Bake until sizzling, apox 30 minutes.
