  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 onion, chopped
  • 3/4 cup peas
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups chicken broth (or enough to cover chicken in pot)
  • 3 cups chicken breasts, cooked and cubed
  • 2 carrots and celery stalks, diced
  • 1/2 teaspoon parsley and pepper

For Soup Base:

  1. Use a 5 quart pot and add chicken cubes, diced carrots, celery, onions and peas.
  2. Cover with chicken broth and add parsley, salt and pepper to taste.
  3. Simmer on med-low heat until vegetables are tender.

For Noodles:

I now live in Florida but still return to Holmes County, Ohio every few months to stock up on Amish food. I've got this cooking right now.

I have been hunting these Amish "noodles". I think they call them boti something. Thanks

The "Amish" noodles you are referring to are called "Bot Boi" noodles. They are available in the "Pennsylvania Dutch" brand sold in the Eastern Atlantic area ( Pa., Md. Va. N.Y. area)

I am presuming that the recipe for the noodles calls for 1 egg, since there isn't any eggs in the ingredient list and the instructions say to "combine egg" in step 1.

@fleetarrow927, thank you for bringing this to our attention! We have now updated the ingredients list, and we apologize for any confusion. --Editors of RecipeLion

I love Amish food, I was born in Pa.,grew up eating it! This is one of our favorites. I add parsley and quartered potatoes to the broth before adding the noodles. I'm hungry for it now!!

This is just like my Mom's recipe and now I make it too. The only thing we did differently is to peel and quarter medium potatoes and put in broth and cook till done. Right before you add the pot pie dough. It's the best!!!

My mother called this chicken pot pie. I would eat the squares of dough before she put them in the pot. I still love this food. Thanks for posting it.

Hello cassbrumley, Actually Amish Pot Pie is basically a soup, it's sort of a faux-pie and is easier and cheaper to make. Hope that helps!

Sounds more like soup than a pie.
