White Trash Frito Pie

At first glance you might not think the ingredients in this White Trash Frito Pie go together, but once you take a bite out of this savory pie you'll see why this is one of our favorite recipes for ground beef. The addition of Velveeta cheese and Fritos chips makes this a meal unlike any other. Try it tonight for dinner and wow your family with an unexpected main course.

Cooking MethodCasserole, Slow Cooker

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 green pepper, chopped
  • 1/2 pound Velveeta cheese
  • 1 can chili beans
  • 1 can tomato soup
  • 1 jar taco sauce
  • 1 small bag of Fritos, crushed

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
     
  2. Brown ground beef, onion and green pepper; drain.
     
  3. Add 1/4 pound of the cheese. Stir until melted. Remove from stove.
     
  4. Add chili beans, soup, taco sauce and crushed Fritos.
     
  5. Put in 11 x13 inch pan. Top with remainder of cheese.
     
  6. Bake until cheese melts through.

 

NOTE: A package of chili mix or taco mix may be added for additional seasoning.
