Cooking MethodSkillet

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or vegetable oil
  • 4 bone-in pork chops, 3/4-inch thick (about 1 1/2 pounds)
  • 1 medium onion, chopped (about 1/2 cup)
  • 1 cup uncooked regular long-grain white rice
  • 1 (10-1/2-ounce) can Campbell's® Condensed Chicken Broth
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 3 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • 4 orange slices

  1. Heat the oil in a 10-inch skillet over medium-high heat. Add the pork and cook until well browned on both sides.

  2. Add the onion and rice to the skillet and cook and stir until the rice is browned. Stir in the broth, orange juice and 2 tablespoons parsley and heat to a boil.

  3. Reduce the heat to low. Cover and cook for 20 minutes or until the pork is cooked through and the rice is tender.

  4. Top with the orange slices and sprinkle with the remaining parsley.

As soon as I read the combination of pork and orange I thought mmm, that will definitely be good. Happily I was right and the whole family agreed. We did make a change by replacing the Campbells broth (sorry Campbells, but we did not have any) with chicken stock and orange juice to increase the orange flavor. It was really delicious with an orange flavor infusing even the rice.

tenab00 4465180 - I'd make sure the rice is mostly cooked before adding it in. Also , be sure to use sufficient cooking oil and you should be OK.

This sounds good, but as I was reading it - it says to brown the pork chops in the skillet...then add the rice and onion and stir til browned...then stir in the other ingredients - how do you do all of this with the pork steaks in the skillet..? Are you supposed to brown them and then take them out, putting them back in afterwards to simmer with the rice?
