Shoo Fly Pie (dry Bottom Cake Type)

Ingredients

  • 1-1/2 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar (brown and white mixed)
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/8 cup shortening
  • 1/2 cup hot water
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 3/4 tsp soda

Instructions

Combine first four ingredients, using hands to work into crumbs. Combine water, molasses and soda. Quickly stir liquid into crumb mixture. Line 8 or 9" pie pan with pastry. Pour molasses mixture into pastry lined pan. Bake in 350 degrees for approximately 40 minutes.
