Buttery Cinnamon Puffs Pastries

You will have a hard time holding yourself back from eating all of these delicious Buttery Cinnamon Puffs Pastries by yourself. Light and fluffy, these little balls are great for dessert but also make for a special treat at breakfast. Super easy to make, these will be a hit on a lazy Sunday morning or for after a morning of opening presents on Christmas. Dipped in butter and rolled in cinnamon, this homemade puff pastry will delight your friends and family. Be sure to make enough though - these will go fast and you don't want to miss out.

Ingredients

  • For Puffs
  •  
  • 1/3 cup solid vegetable shortening
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/2 cup unbleached white flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • For topping:

  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup sugar combined with 1 tsp. cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease the muffin tins.
     
  2. Put shortening, sugar, and egg in a medium mixing bowl and beat well.
     
  3. Mix the flour, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg and add to the first mixture (stir it in a little at a time).
     
  4. Pour in the milk and beat until blended and smooth.
     
  5. Fill the tins about 2/3 full. Bake 20-25 minutes until lightly golden.
     
  6. As soon as they are done, dip them one by one first in the melted butter, and then roll them in the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
