My mam used to always make meat loaf all the time and since I moved out I have tried a few different recipes but have not been able to find one that matches. I have never seen oats used before, is it nice in it? What does it do for it? I am curious to try this!

There's nothing quite like meatloaf, and there are so many versions of it you really can't get bored. Just recently I made a meatloaf, and in an attempt to eliminate the greasy mess that usually comes along with it, I used ground sirloin. To prevent it from being dried out, I didn't use any fillers and used crushed tomatoes in the mix instead and OMG...It was so flavorful and juicy. But, now after reading this recipe...I'm a little curious about making it with BBQ sauce.

For the amount of ground beef, I would decrease the amount of oats added. For a pound of meat, one-fourth cup works well. My mom always used oats instead of bread crumbs in meatloaf and it works great. Mixing ketchup and BBQ sauce is new. Usually I see one or the other.
