Cooking Time40 min

Ingredients

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 stick margarine (or butter)
  • 1 (20-ounce) can sliced peaches (drained), or any fruit can be used

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

  2. Mix together all ingredients except margarine.

  3. Melt margarine in oblong oven pan; pour batter over melted margarine. Sprinkle a little sugar on top.

  4. Bake for 30 to 40 minutes or until brown.

Note: Other fruit may be used. Canned fruit is usually packed in some type of syrup, so when using fresh or frozen fruit, coat the fruit with a couple of spoons of sugar prior to placing the fruit on top of the batter.

A little confusion ... In the recipe it says to mix togethr all ingredients except butter/margarine. In the note they talk about placing fruit on top of the batter. Which is correct ... IN THE BATTER .... or ..... ON TOP OF THE BATTER?
