Dinner on the Ground Peach Cobbler

Southerners may be the only ones to know what dinner on the ground is, but this peach cobbler recipe is for dessert lovers everywhere. Bring back the old Southern tradition of an all-day Sunday potluck with Dinner on the Ground Peach Cobbler. This recipe for peach cobbler is super easy to follow but tastes like you spent all day on it. A sprinkle of cinnamon and sugar on top gives it the perfect finishing touch.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup water or peach juice
  • 3 cups sugared sliced peaches
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
     
  2. Mix cornstarch, brown sugar and water or peach juice if using canned peaches. Add fruit. Cook and stir until thick.
     
  3. Add butter and lemon juice and pour into baking dish.
     
  4. Mix flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.
     
  5. Add milk and butter and beat until smooth. Pour over fruit.
     
  6. Combine sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle over batter.
     
  7. Bake 30 minutes.
