Homemade Rootbeer

Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon dry yeast
  • 1 cup lukewarm water
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 5 teaspoons root beer extract
  • more lukewarm water
  • 6-10 dried raisins

Instructions

Dissolve yeast in 1 cup lukewarm water, let stand 5 minutes. Combine sugar and extract. Add the yeast to the sugar mixture. Pour into a gallon jug, then fill with lukewarm water, stopping about 1 inch from the top of the jug. Add the dried raisins for flavor. Cover the jug and set it in the sun for 3 hours. Refrigerate overnight then drink the next day, Makes 1 gallon (I think I would strain the raisins out before drinking).

Hello raysicq, No that's not the same as rootbeer extract. It is a somewhat challenging item to find. Please let us know if you have any luck! And thanks for the feedback.

I could not find rootbeer extract, The thing I could find is rootbeer concentrate. That is not the same stuff is it.
