Holiday Lemon Fondue

For a romantic twist holiday fondue recipe, try this Holiday Lemon Fondue. Warm fondue recipes make great holiday appetizers, and this lemon fondue is a sweet, zesty twist on the normal chocolate and cheese fondues.

Notes

Serve with strawberries, gingerbread, and/or meringues.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 4 cups water
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine
  • 1/2 cup lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons lemon peel, grated
  • Strawberries, gingerbread and/or bite-sized meringues

Instructions

  1. In a heavy saucepan, combine sugar, cornstarch and salt. Stir in water until smooth.
     
  2. Bring to a boil over medium heat; cook and stir for 1-2 minutes or until thickened.
     
  3. Remove from the heat; stir in butter, lemon juice and peel until butter is melted.
     
  4. Transfer to a fondue pot and keep warm. Serve immediately.
