This uniquely named Amish dessert is truly a treat. Don't worry, though no fish is included! Amish Apple Fish Dessert is basically baked apple custard. An old family recipe, the origin of the name Apple Fish is a reference to the practice of shaping the dough into a fish, and then filling it with apples and custard. Since the dough is very soft, try buying a fish-shaped pan if you truly want your dessert to have a traditional fish shape. Otherwise, any baking pan will do. A creamy, cinnamon dessert, Apple Fish is sure to be a hit at the family dinner table.

The writer gives this the name Baked Apple Custard Dessert, which is not as strange a name as Apple Fish. I like the idea of finding a fish-shaped pan and making it in that. When I saw the name Apple Fish, I knew I had to click through and find out what it was. It sounds quite tasty and easy to put together. Apples are becoming quite plentiful and I'm looking forward to making this up soon.

When I saw the title of this recipe, it was so strange that I had to find out more. Thanks for the backstory! Have you ever put a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top of your warm apple pie, got to talking to everyone at the holiday party and had it completely melt before you had a chance to dig in? Then you wished you had put it in a bowl rather than on a paper plate. This is kind of like that! Marvelous!

Glad there's no fish in this recipe!! Baked apple custard sounds fantastic.
