Slow Cooked Beef Brisket

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1/2 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons beef bouillon granules
  • 1 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground red pepper
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 1/2 pounds beef brisket
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons margarine or butter

Instructions

  1. In a bowl combine water, Worcestershire sauce, vinegar, bouillon, mustard, chili powder, red pepper, and garlic.  Mix well.  Reserve 1/2 cup liquid for sauce.
     
  2. Trim fat from brisket. If necessary, cut brisket to fit inside slow cooker.  Place meat inside slow cooker and cover.  Cook on low-heat setting for 10 to 12 hours or high-heat setting for 5 to 6 hours.

  3. In a small sauce pan combine 1/2 c reserved liquid, ketchup, brown sugar, and margarine. Heat through. Pass sauce with meat.
