Gifts in a jar are always a super fun (and inexpesive) gift to give, especially around the holidays. Enjoy this free recipe for 10-Minute Holiday Cookies in a Jar. Simply collect and gather all of the ingredients, place them in a mason jar with a little gift tag, and you're good to go! This is the perfect homemade holiday gift idea for teachers, neighbors, and co-workers. Plus, people can re-use the mason jar over and over again for another craft or recipe!

Makes: 1 dozen cookies

Ingredients
  • 1 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup old fashioned oats
  • 1/3 cup chocolate candies (red and green, preferable)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2/3 cup sugar
Instructions
  • In a quart-sized mason jar, layer the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, oats, chocolate candies, brown sugar and sugar, packing each layer tightly.
  • Add a ribbon and a tag with the following directions:
  1. Empty jar of cookie mix into a mixing bowl; mix well. Add 1/2 cup butter or margarine, melted, 2 beaten egg and 1  teaspoon vanilla. Mix until blended.
  2. Roll into 1-inch balls, and place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet.
  3. Bake at 375 degrees until edges are lightly browned, about 12 to 14 minutes.
  4. Cool on cookie sheet for five minutes, then transfer to wire racks.

What a great last minute gift idea...Thank you! This time of year it's so hard to guess what to give as gifts...and who doesn't love cookies right? I think customizing cookie jars for the person you're giving it to in mind, is probably a more thoughtful gift than just grabbing something random. It could also be a great idea as door prizes or raffles at a party!

This is such a pretty and useful gift for friends, relatives, teachers, etc. I like that this is the exact recipe for one jar. That way I can decide how many I want to make. The mason jars make such great gifts because many people use them for crafts and overnight oatmeal. There are lots of cute tags available to download, too, if you aren't up to being crafty and making your own.
