  • 1 1/2 pound hamburger meat
  • 1/2 onion, chopped
  • 1/2 pound spaghetti, cooked 10 minutes and drained
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 cups fresh peas
  • 2 cups tomato juice
  • 1 pound cheese


  1. Brown hamburger and onions.

  2. Add tomato juice and simmer 20 minutes.

  3. Add salt and pepper.

  4. Put cooked spaghetti around the edge of your pan and put the peas in the center.

  5. Simmer another 15 minutes.

  6. Cover with cheese and simmer until cheese is completely melted.

This is not Amish at all that I know of. My mother was Amish and then she married a Mennonite So I coming from this kind of background we didn't have this in our communities.

you o not have to cook the pasta,just add a little water or sauce I never cooked my pasta so it is really e z. Stop

This is an interesting concept but I think a little tweaking may bring it to life. If you were to toast the spaghetti and add some chunky tomatoes to the sauce, it will not only change the texture of the pasta but also give it more depth in flavor. Making it this way will actually compliment the peas for those who aren't a fan. A reference to a Mexican tradition...Fideo, which is delicious!

I tend to agree with Seth below that this seems a bit on the bland side. Fine if your family doesn't like spicier food, but I'm definitely not that way. I'd use V-8 in place of regular tomato juice, though I'd probably opt for a good tomato sauce like Ragu or Prego instead. Some garlic would be an essential addition, and I'm not that enamored of peas, so I might substitute something else in its place.

I would definitely add some onions to it as well and maybe corn. It might need some Italian seasoning too.

Even though I am loving cooking easy dishes are always good when there is little time. I felt the ingredients seemed a little bland so also used a tin of tomatoes, some garlic and some olive oil. We enjoyed it and will probably make it again sometime when we need something quick and relatively simple.

There is absolutely no way this can be called a dump go recipe since the ground beef the pasta have to be cooked. You people are pathetic.
