Ingredients

  • 1 pound cake
  • 5 egg whites and 3 egg yolks
  • 4 cups sugar
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1 stick butter
  • 1/2 cup Nestle's Chocolate Quik
  • almonds, slivered (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cream the butter, add the egg yolks and the chocolate. Reserve. Make a caramel sauce with the sugar and water.
     
  2. Beat the whites until they make stiff peaks and add the caramel sauce. Beat well and add to the butter mixture.
     
  3. Cut the pound cake in small 1" pieces and layer in a pyrex starting with the cream, and then the pound cake, finishing with the cream.
     
  4. Garnish with almond slivers. Refrigerate until set (around 4 hours).

Would never want to try this. Raw eggs? No way!

Based on THESE directions, I will not EVER give this a try!! Directions are too vague & no indication of ANYTHING tropical {pineapple, coconut, nuts, etc.}. Looks like this recipe is bound for the dumpster!

I like to know whats tropical about this recipe. there has to be something missing. i dont thick I will try this recipe. Just sounds so gross.

This has got to be the worst recipe I've ever seen!! Raw yolks!! No directions for making the caramel sauce, etc...just bizarre!

I think you need to get a very good proof-reader!

So the egg yolks never get cooked?

This was my concern also.

I wish you'd told how to make the caramel sauce. That would've been really nice.
