Nun's Cake

Ingredients

  • 1 c. butter
  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 5 eggs
  • 3 c. flour
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 3/4 c. milk

Instructions

Beat butter until very light. Divide sugar in half; gradually add first half to butter, beating thoroughly. Beat eggs and add remaining sugar a bit at a time. Beat egg-sugar mixture into butter-sugar mixture. Add vanilla and beat until smooth. Sift and measure flour. Add baking powder and salt. Sift 3 times. Blend sifted ingredients into beaten mixture in small amounts alternately with the milk. Do not beat these ingredients just blend well before adding the next. Pour batter into buttered 10 inch tube pan. Bake in preheated 350 degree oven for 1 hour.
