Homemade Breakfast Corndogs are a unique and fun way to put breakfast on the table. Your kids will beg you to make this easy breakfast recipe for them time after time, and lucky for you, it's pretty easy to whip up in a pinch. What makes these bite-size breakfast corndogs even more appealing is when you pair them with a little drizzle of maple syrup. The sweet, savory and slightly salty flavor is more than enough to get the taste buds watering, so what are you waiting for? Try this easy breakfast recipe out today!

Ingredients

  • 1 package breakfast sausage, browned
  • 1 package corn muffin mix
  • 1 egg
  • 1/3 cup buttermilk
  • corn starch (for coating)
  • oil (for frying)
  • syrup for dipping (optional)
  • skewers

Instructions

  1. Preheat oil to 350 degrees F.

  2. Prepare corn muffin mix according to the package directions — substituting buttermilk for the plain milk, mix thoroughly and then allow to sit. As the mixture sits it will thicken, thin with more buttermilk as needed.

  3. Cut each sausage in half.  Stab each sausage with a skewer and dip in the corn starch.

  4. Dip each half sausage into the corn muffin mix.

  5. Fry each sausage for 2 minutes until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.

  6. Serve with warm syrup.

If this recipe will not get them to eat, not sure what will. Who does not like deep fried meat with a crispy outer crust? I know I do. I will have to table this for a weekend meal as I just will not have time to get this done during our hectic mornings. Thanks for the recipe.

We dont often fry in our home so, even though we all love them, corn dogs are not a regular for us. So much the better for having found this great recipe because it really produces a very good corn dog. Our were devoured in a flash when we had them over the weekend and the children were left looking around for more, lol! And do not even think about omitting the syrup for dipping because it turns these very good corn dogs into something extra specially YUMMY!

Omg, I love corn dogs and this is such an easy recipe to make. The sausages cut in half is a great idea for snacking or dipping and I can almost bet if you were to make some sausage or white gravy for dipping it would be super flavorful. Using cornstarch to coat them is so clever...I would never have thought of that!

You could use browned breakfast links for this recipe, or you could put a different spin on them by using those little smoked cocktail sausages that people always serve at parties! The dipping sauce could either make these guys sweet or savory. They would be great for a brunch or a casual party!

I've never tried corndogs before but this recipe looks really simple. I think whole sausages will work well too. I've never used olive oil for deep frying so I don't know how well it works. Heating destroys some of the nutrients in olive oil though so most recipes won't require you to heat olive oil.

Finger food for breakfast! I think I'd cook the sausage links until brown, which would be a little more than 2 minutes. If you can't find links, you can make your own with a tube of ground sausage. Just roll them into link shape. Good way to get some food in the family on a busy weekend morning.

Could i use whole suages links with this recipe instead of half ones, and instead of using oil can i use olive oil, because thats all i buy because me and my husband cant use regular oil? Please Reply Back ASAP! Thank-You!
