Spiced Country Meatloaf

Looking for a great new meatloaf recipe? How about putting a little kick in your meatloaf with Spiced Country Meatloaf. Made with chili and spicy sausage, it has a hearty flavor that will have your mouth watering.

  • 1 pound ground beef, turkey or chicken
  • 1 pound hot Italian sausages
  • 1 cup onion, minced
  • 1/2 cup finely grated carrot
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup fresh whole wheat bread crumbs
  • 1/2 cup chili sauce
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons Italian seasoning, crushed
  • 1/2 ounce fresh basil, chopped (optional)
  • salt and pepper
  • 1/4 cup chopped drained sun-dried tomatoes
  • 1 egg, beaten


  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. In a large bowl, combine all ingredients, mixing well with your hands until totally combined. Flatten the top, pressing firmly into the bowl. Invert the bowl over a cookie sheet so meat mixture comes out in a perfect "bowl" shape.
  3. Bake about 1 hour or until fully cooked in the centre, using a meat thermometer to get a reading of at least 160 degrees F.
  4. Cut into wedges to serve.
