Simple Chicken Fried Steak

Just a few steps to get this simple chicken fried steak recipe on your dinner table tonight. Even a novice fryer will be able to achieve success with this tasty Simple Chicken Fried Steak recipe.

Ingredients

  • 6 chopped steaks
  • 4 tablespoons flour
  • salt to taste
  • pepper to taste
  • oil or melted Crisco
  • 1 1/2 to 2 cups milk

Instructions

  1. Dredge the steaks in 3 tablespoons of flour and fry in 1/4" of oil.
     
  2. Salt & pepper them while they are in the pan.
     
  3. Drain the steaks on paper towels and drain the pan of all but 1-2 tablespoons of oil.
     
  4. There should be plenty of crunchies leftover from frying the steaks. Keep these. They're what make the gravy tasty.
     
  5. Add the flour (1 large tablespoon) to make a kind of roux.
     
  6. Add the milk gradually until the gravy is the consistency desired.
     
  7. Add salt & pepper if you feel it's needed.
