Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 cup tomato juice, or tomato sauce
  • 3/4 cup bread crumbs
  • 2 egg whites, slightly beaten
  • 1/4 cup onions, chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
     
  2. Combine all ingredients; mix lightly but thoroughly.
     
  3. Press into 8 x 4-inch loaf pan; bake 1 hour, or until meat is no longer pink and juices run clear. Drain; let stand 5 minutes before slicing.

When I think of comfort food, meatloaf comes to mind. it is a meal that you enjoy eating with your family around the dinner table. This is a good, basic recipe for meatloaf. For a healthier version, lean ground turkey could be used. If enhanced flavor is desired, chopped garlic, sage, and ground mustard could be added.

the country meat loaf recipe calls for 3/4cup meatloaf. exactly what does that mean?

Should the 3/4 cup of meatloaf be something else; perhaps breadcrumbs or crackers?

Is this supposed to say 3/4 cup of breadcrumbs or something besides 3/4 cup of meatloaf? Thanks.
