Baked Beans

Grape jelly is the one thing that makes these baked beans a special food. If you love hot dogs then this is these beans are the perfect thing to add to make beans and franks.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground sausage, browned
  • 2 minced onion
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce
  • Dash of garlic powder
  • 4 cans pork & beans (15-16 oz cans for half crockpot, 31 oz for full crockpot)
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 3 tablespoons yellow mustard
  • 1/4 cup grape jam
  • 3 tablespoons Picante sauce
  • 1/4 chili powder
  • 1/4 black pepper
  • 1/4 red pepper
  • 1/2 lemon juice

Instructions

  1. For thicker results, drain canned beans before using, for saucier results, use beans and liquid.
     
  2. Put all ingredients in slow cooker and cook on low for 6-8 hours.

These are very different from your traditional baked beans, but WOW! People who loved them, really loved them! I make a lot of different things for potlucks. I usually take something traditional and then something unusual. You don't always have to make everything that everybody likes, just half of them at least! And don't be afraid of the grape jam in this recipe! It works!
