Shortcut Caramel Chocolate Bars

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1 package yellow cake mix
  • 2/3 cup (or one small can) evaporated milk
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup caramel topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
     
  2. Combine the dry cake mix with the nuts in a mixing bowl.
     
  3. Stir in evaporated milk and melted butter.
     
  4. Spread half the cake mixture in a greased 9" x 13" pan. Bake 10 minutes.
     
  5. Remove from oven and sprinkle chocolate chips over hot crust. Drizzle the carmel topping over the chocolate chips.
     
  6. Drop teaspoonfuls of remaining cake mixture on top of mixture in pan.
     
  7. Bake 20-25 minutes.
     
  8. Allow to cool. Loosen sides of pan and cut into bars while still warm.
