Candied Pecans

Learn how to candy pecans in 10 minutes with our simple candied pecans recipe.

Updated November 05, 2018

Keeping a jar of candy out for guests is pretty much required during the holidays. Why not try something new by setting out some candied pecans? This perfect pecan recipe shows you how to candy pecans in just 20 minutes, making it a simple solution to all your bite-sized snack needs. These sweet little treats make great party favors, as well. Just wrap them up in some cute red cellophane and send guests on their way.

From the Chef: If you've got guests coming in and out of the house throughout December, it's always nice to have a bowl of candied nuts on a side table for easy munching. Put them in a decorative jar, and you've got a fun gift to give to the neighbors.

Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup boiling water
  • 1/4 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1 pound pecans

Nuts or potato chips

I know I should say carrot sticks or something like that, but dried fruits, nuts, and chocolate mixed together is my favorite snack food. These would fit in that mix very well.

These look so delicious! They would make great stocking stuffers in festive plastic baggies.

Yum! This looks like a great recipe. Candied pecans are one of my favorite holiday treats.

I never realized there was an actual technique to making candied pecans but I truly love them. After trying to make them on my own I decided it's better to buy them because mine never came out quite right...of course just rolling them into cinnamon sugar isn't the way to do it, as I'm seeing now. LOL I'm so glad I ran across this recipe, these will make perfect stocking stuffers!

My mother was in the habit of having all sorts of nuts and fruits available to the children during the holiday visits. She always managed to have some candied pecans from somewhere or other. These would be a great addition to the family recipe box and have them every year.

Yummy! When I bring in bag nuts I have to hide them if they are for a planned recipe. If I get the boys to help me with this recipe, I may not have to hide them anymore. I think they will like this "glaze" on all of their favorite nuts.

A family friend of ours makes candied pecans every holiday season and they are to die for!!! They just remind me of Christmas and I love the taste and smell of them- so addicting! I think it's about time I try to make my own, so I love this recipe as a starting point. I plan on adding a little pumpkin pie spice to enhance the flavor!
