Beer Batter Chicken Strips

For a delicious and easy snack try this beer batter chicken strips recipe. This can be great as an appetizer before dinner or as lunch for the family. And these homemade chicken fingers are easy to make!

Serves: 6

  • 1 can (12-ounce) beer
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 dash salt
  • 1 1/2 cup flour (about)
  • 4 drops egg-shade food color
  • 1 pound chicken breast tenders
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • 1/4 cup Dijon-style mustard
  • 3/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  1. Combine beer, eggs and salt in bowl.
  2. Stir in flour, adding additional flour if needed. Batter should be the consistency of a thin cake batter. Add food color.
  3. Refrigerate batter 1 to 2 hours.
  4. Prepare honey mustard dipping sauce. (see recipe below)
  5. When ready to cook, preheat 1 1/2 to 2 inches oil in deep pot or deep-fat fryer to 350 degrees F.
  6. Remove batter from refrigerator and stir well.
  7. Coat chicken strips in batter, then gently set in oil with tongs so strips float. Do not immerse in oil.
  8. Fry chicken, turning once, until golden brown, about 2 minutes per side.
  9. Serve with honey mustard sauce.

Honey Mustard Dipping Sauce

  1. Combine honey and mustard in bowl.
  2. Using electric mixture, mix on low speed, scraping bowl twice, until incorporated, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add mayonnaise and beat on low speed until mixture is of a dipping consistency and turns a light honey color.
  4. Dipping sauce keeps 2 weeks in refrigerator. Makes 1 1/4 cups.

If there is additional batter left over, it may be kept refrigerated and reused within 4 to 5 days.

All Purpose or Self Rise Flour?

@sholly58 9230633, All purpose flour should work just fine with this recipe. Enjoy! --editors of RecipeLion

Well I made this the other night and I was worried my son's might not like it but WOW they loved it.It came out so light and fluffy. They were like this was better than just fried chicken strips using flour.Plus they loved the honey mustard sauce they were like did you buy this?So to my amazement they want me to make it more often and to keep the sauce on hand for everything else they like to dip.Very happy this taste the greatest. One more thing I made hush-puppies and fries on the side!!:)
