Boiled Turnips

Turnips can be difficult to cook sometimes, but boiled turnips are so easy that even a beginning cook can manage them. Not only is it easy, but learning how to cook a turnip by boiling makes for a delicious meal too!

Notes

Some varieties of turnips tend to be watery and this recipe will be bland if you get that kind of turnip. I have no idea how to tell without eating a cooked one.Use in any soup for which you would use potatoes or parsnips. Matzoh ball soup and chicken soup are classics. Slice thin and fry in oil for a stir fry. Radishes are awesome this way too. Use raw grated or cooked mashed turnip in place of similar prepped potatoes in pancakes or similar fried foods.

Ingredients

  • Turnips
