Slow Cooker Cranberry Surprise

Cranberry sauce is great, especially when paired with Thanksgiving turkey, but why not change things up a bit this year and make this delicious Slow Cooker Cranberry Surprise? With raisins and pieces of orange added to the mix, this cranberry relish recipe really soars. What's even better is that you don't have to spend extra time in the kitchen making this recipe for Thanksgiving. Ingredients

  • 2 12-ounce packages fresh cranberries
  • 3 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 cup zinfandel wine
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 2 teaspoon orange peel, grated
  • 2 oranges, cut into 3/4 inch pieces
  • 3/4 cup raisins (or dried currants)

Instructions

  1. Mix the cranberries, sugar, wine, cinnamon stick, orange peel and orange segments in a slow cooker.
     
  2. Cover and cook on high until at least half of the cranberries pop, approximately 5 to 7 hours.
     
  3. Remove the cinnamon stick and stir in the raisins (or currants).
