Canadian Broccoli Cheese Soup

Just add some spice, that's part of what makes this Canadian Broccoli Cheese Soup to die for! You won't look at a broccoli cheese soup recipe the same way again. Yum!

Ingredients

  • 3/4 teaspoon liquid smoke seasoning
  • 1/4 pound butter or margarine
  • 3/4 cup flour
  • 1 pint half and half
  • 1/4 teaspoon each salt and pepper
  • 1 bunch broccoli tops
  • 2 1/2 cup boiling water
  • 1 onion, minced
  • 12 ounce Cheez Whiz
  • 2 carrots, sliced thin
  • 9 chicken bullion cubes

Instructions

  1. Saute onions and carrots in butter or margarine in a fry pan until tender. Add flour to make a roux.
     
  2. Add the bullion cubes to the boiling water. Add the roux to the water. Use a wire whisk stirring until smooth.
     
  3. Add the Cheez Whiz, half and half, liquid smoke and salt and pepper.
     
  4. Simmer on low, stirring often for about 20 minutes.
     
  5. Add broccoli tops and cook till broccoli is tender another 25 minutes.
