Sweet Spiced Nuts

Ingredients

  • 220g sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1 egg white
  • 155g whole nuts

Instructions

Makes about 450g (1lb./ 2 cups). Preheat oven to 120C (250F). Using a coarse sieve, sift sugar, salt and spices together 3 times. Beat together water and egg white. dip nuts into the egg white mixture. Coat in sugar and spice mixture Spread nuts evenly on a baking tray covered with baking paper. Make sure all the nuts are separated. bake 11/2 to 2 hourse. Remove from the oven and allow to cool on the tray. Shake excess sugar from the nuts and store in an airtight jar. NOTE: 1 teaspoon is 5mls 1 tablespoon is 20mls.
