Cracker Jack

Ingredients

  • 20 cup popcorn
  • 1 cup molasses
  • 1 teaspoon vinegar
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup peanuts
  • 2 Tbsp. water
  • 1 Tbsp butter
  • 1 teaspoon mixed spices (mace, ginger, cinnamon & nutmeg)
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda

Instructions

Cook to hard ball stage 265 degrees. Stir to keep from scorching. Add butter and mixed spice. Add baking soda. Stir lightly and while still foaming, pour over a mixture of 20 cups popcorn and 1 cup peanuts. Pour in flat buttered pan. When cool, crumble into small pieces.
