Creamed Tuna on Toast

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 oz sliced mushrooms canned,
  • 1/4 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup medium sherry(optional)
  • 1/2 pound process cheese, cubed (2 cups)
  • 1/2 teaspoon seasoned salt
  • pinch of black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 2 - 6 1/2 oz cans tuna, drained

Instructions

In two quart saucepan over low heat, stir flour into hot butter or margarine, until blended. Gradually stir in milk, sherry and mushroom liquid and cook, stirring until thickened. Stir in cheese, seasoned salt, pepper and nutmeg until cheese melts. Stir in tuna and mushrooms into sauce. Warm through stirring gently. Serve warm over Toast Points or toasted English muffins.
