Thick Bread

Ingredients

  • 2 packages white cornbread mix
  • 1/4 to 1/2 lb bulk sausage, chorizo, ground beef or lamb, browned, drained
  • 16 ounce can of sweet whole kernel corn, drained
  • 1 red bell pepper, diced
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • pinch of: onion powder, garlic powder
  • pepper to taste

Instructions

Preheat oven to temperature on cornbread mix package. Prepare cornbread mix according to package directions. add everything but bell peppers. Mix thoroughly. Pour into greased baking dish, we usually use a 9x13x2 pan. Place bell peppers on top before placing in oven. Bake according to package directions. or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Serve hot with a glass of ice cold milk. Note: This can be made into muffins instead.
