Sweet Buttermilk Cornbread

Ingredients

  • 2 cup flour
  • 2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 cup buttermilk
  • 1/4 cup melted butter, slightly cooled
  • 1 cup yellow cornmeal

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
     
  2. Lightly grease a 9 x 12-inch glass baking dish.
     
  3. Sift together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt and set aside.
     
  4. In a separate bowl, beat the eggs, then beat in the sugar.
     
  5. Mix in the buttermilk until blended, then add the melted butter.
     
  6. Add the flour mixture to the wet mixture; mix well.
     
  7. Add the cornmeal and blend thoroughly.
     
  8. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes. Serve warm.
