Quick Mix Golden Pudding

When you find great new yellow cake mix recipes, you hold onto them because they're few and far between. This recipe for Quick Mix Golden Pudding is one of the most unique recipes with cake mix that we've found. Learn how to whip up your own pudding dessert using a box of yellow cake mix and a few other ingredients with these recipe instructions.

Ingredients

  • 1 package yellow cake mix
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup golden syrup, corn syrup or maple syrup

Instructions

  1. Place syrup in bottom of pudding mold before adding batter.
     
  2. Prepare the cake mix with the egg and milk or water according to directions on package.
     
  3. Pour prepared cake batter into a greased 2 - 2 1/2 quart pudding mold and cover with a lid, foil or greased double wax paper.
     
  4. Place the mold in a sauce pan of boiling water and keep the level of the water half way up mold during cooking.
     
  5. Steam for 1 1/2 hours.
     
  6. Unmold the pudding while hot and serve with cream, ice cream, or custard.

 

NOTE:

When cooking for smaller numbers, make up the whole cake mix as directed, but pour only half the cake batter into a 1 1/2 quart mold and steam for 1 hour.

Or you can fill individual molds and steam for 20-25 minutes. Bake remaining cake batter in a greased 7-inch layer cake pan at 350 degrees F for 25-30 minutes.
