Mississippi Barbecued Pork

Tangy and irresistible, Mississippi Barbecued Pork is a wonderful pulled pork recipe. Cooked until the meat falls right of the bone and onto your plate, it cooks in it's own juices and makes one of the best barbeque sauces. Slap it on a bun and enjoy.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 pound pork butt roast
  • 1 tablespoon corn oil
  • 1 can (4-ounces) tomato sauce
  • 1/4 cup cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon celery seed
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • salt and pepper, to taste
  • Dash or two of red pepper sauce (to taste)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F or can cook on med-Low on stove-top.Cook with tight fitting lid on pan to keep in the juices.
     
  2. Randomly pierce the roast with a knife then brown it all over.
     
  3. Combine the remaining ingredients in a bowl then add to the roast and bring to boil, then reduce the heat to a simmer.
     
  4. Cover and either keep cooking (turning every now and then) or place in the oven and bake for 2 hours or till fork tender and meat falls from the bone. While baking one can baste and turn about every 45 mins or so.
