Cheeseless Pizza Recipe

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit (or recommended temperature for your pizza crust recipe).

  2. Make the caramelized onions. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add sliced onions and a pinch of salt and stir to combine. Reduce heat to low and cook, stirring occasionally, until onions are soft and caramelized. This should take about 25 minutes.

  3. Meanwhile, prepare a baking sheet or pizza pan with a light coating of cooking spray or olive oil. Press the prepared pizza dough onto the baking sheet until it fills the entire sheet. Bake crust in the oven for 5 to 7 minutes, or until the dough firms up and starts to puff slightly.

  4. Spread the pizza sauce over the pre-baked crust. Scatter caramelized onions, black olives, red peppers, sliced garlic, and artichoke hearts if using. Return pizza to the oven and bake for 10 to 12 minutes, until crust is browned at the edges.

  5. Serve with a sprinkling of fresh herbs and your favorite pizza condiments. Our editor loves a few dashes of hot sauce!
