Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 26 oz beef tenderloin
  • 4 cloves garlic
  • 3 oz onion
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup vinegar
  • 4 cups water
  • 1/2 tbsp crushed peppercorn
  • 2 pieces of bay leaves
  • 1/4 cup fermented black beans
  • 1 cup pineapple slices
  • 1 cup clear soda
  • 3 tbsp brown sugar
  1. Heat oil in a large pot over medium heat.

  2. Slice tenderloin and sear until lightly browned.

  3. Set aside fried beef slices.

  4. Remove excess oil from the pot, leaving about 2 tablespoons.

  5. In the same pot, sauté crushed garlic until golden and aromatic.

  6. Add the seared beef and stir.

  7. Add the rest of the ingredients and stir.

  8. Cover the pot and let it simmer for 50 minutes or until beef is tender.

  9. Add more water if needed until meat is fork-tender.

  10. Remove the cover and continue to simmer until liquid is reduced to a thick sauce.
